the wooden bucket

Postby Frits » Wed Feb 07, 2007 1:00 am

So my char recently made a bucket, then after a year or so passed he had managed to dig a well, now he started a waterproject for 1800 and has been working 3 (three!) whole days on it. In inventory i notice the bucket is qualified as used, i click the repairbutton and it's setting up for an 8 hour repairproject. Eight? No thanks...
Alas i didn't find the infobox in the wiki but it seems the rottingrate is enormous! Why is this?

The wooden bucket has a decay per day of 49, and decay per day of use of 400, and repair per hour of 400. These rates are somewhat high. What I believe happened, is that since buckets are machines (instead of tools), that they were forgotten when use based decay was implemented. I expect that they will recieve appropriate updates within the next few weeks.

Indeed. It did slip through the cracks in the great repair overadjustment of '06. The numbers are updated now to a more trivial set that should only bother Cantrians suffering from repair/decay OCD.

Can someone explain the wooden bucket to me? In Wiki it says it is used to mix mud in a mudhole but the mudhole page doesn't mention needing a bucket. Now this thread seems to be implying it is used to get water from a well. What does it do? Do I need one to make mud?

A lot of my chars live in very isolated places where no experienced chars are around to tell them how to do things and I haven't used a lot of these new-fangled machines with any of my other chars. I don't know how to figure them out and my chars don't have the spare resources for trial and error. Halp!

That's right. There are serveral ways of making mud. The wiki entries are already up to date and correct.

No - only the one carrying the bucket will be able to draw water

Yes as long as each person is carrying a bucket

So...do I need a bucket to make mud from a mudhole or not? I'm still confused.

No. You do not need a bucket to make mud in a mudhole. You start the project in the mudhole, and it will require no tools to work on that project.

You can alternatively create a project to mix mud by setting a bucket on the ground and clicking the "use this bucket" button (just like making ice cream). This project will require the bucket then be held as a tool for each person working on the project.

Two different machines to make the same resource. Mudhole (needs no bucket), Bucket (needs a bucket to use the bucket ;) ).

:D Oh, but with the bucket you don't need the mudhole, right? I wish we could get water with the bucket like we can with the water skin or whatever it's called.

Done. Buckets can now fetch spring water at 50 grams per day.
