Beeswax exists. It's not nearly common enough, but it exists.

It is more common then you think. Especially since it was later placed on the old islands as well.

Of course, with the present Cantrian culture, you'd have to kill the bees to get the honey, just like milk and eggs.
1666-1 You novicely kill a bee with a shovel.

You awkwardly hurt a bee with a crossbow, that loses 50 strength

You are killed by a Bee.

... i guess you could like... build a beehive, and it'd be like a machine that produces honey...?

Might be possible in the not too distant future for that hive to produce beeswax as well as a bye product.

Maybe:
Bee hive
2000g wood (I have no idea what they are made of :p)
200g iron
500g beeswax
10 days

Projects:
Collecting Honey
Collecting beeswax

(In the future, maybe we could collect bees, to export for new hives - replacing the beeswax requirement... but that would need 100% rot (even in your inventory) unless you have a suitable container... as I said, in the future...)
