Sandra wrote:A new one for those that are interested:

A father, a mother, two sons, two daughters, a cop and a thief are standing nearby a river. They all would like to cross the river on a boat, but:
1) No more than two people can go on the boat at any time.
2) Only mom, dad, and the cop now how to control the boat.
3) When dad is with one or both of the daughters, mom has to be there too.
4) When mom is with one or both of the suns, dad has to be there too.
5) When the thief is with one or more members of the family, the cop has to be there too.

How does the group crosses over? (The boat crosses the river 17 times).

And sorry for any spelling mistakes I might (still) have made

Took some thinking, but I believe I have the solution. I thought it could not be done at first, but hey...didn't I say I like to nuke things. :P

c = Cop
t = Thief
m = Mother
d = Daughter
s = son

Code: Select all

1) The cop goes across with the theif.

f m dd ss               c t >>>>>>>t

2) The cop returns without the theif and takes a daughter across and picks up the theif.

f m d ss          <<<<<<<c>>>>d

3) The cop and the theif stays, while the mother goes across with a daughter.

c t f ss                   m d>>>>>>>>>dd

4) The mother returns and goes across with the father then the mother stays on the other side.

c t ss                     m f >>>>>>>>>m dd

5. The father returns and stays while the cop and the theif crosses and the mother returns.

f ss               <<<<<<<m>>>>>>>>> c t dd

6. The mother and father goes across and the mother stays.

ss          <<<<<<<<f>>>>>>>>>> m c t dd

7. The father returns and gets a son then the cop and theif returns.

s c t           <<<<<<<<c>>>>>>>>> f s m dd

8.  The cop takes the son over then returns.

t     <<<<<<<<<c>>>>>>>>> f ss m dd

9. Lastly, the theif and the cop crosses over together.

                                 c t >>>>>>>> c t f ss m dd

It adds up to 17, I just combined the crossing.

Ok. Here is another while we wait.

Form words that Start and Finish with the same letter. For example _OAS_ becomes TOAST when a T is placed at the beginning and the end of that set of letters. Use a different letter for each set.

1. _ECU_
2. _RITI_
3. _ILLO_
4. _RANSI_
5. _ERIOU_
6. _MOEB_
7. _AXI_
8. _OWDA_
9. _LUM_

All correct ;)? The Howdah one is a long shot, but apparently it is "a seat or platform for one or more persons, commonly with a railing and a canopy, placed on the back of an elephant"

Sparkle. In your reply to the river question, why does the cop and thief go over, then the cop ends up taking the thief back anyway?

edit: nvr mnd lol

"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

I obviously meant 4000 question and sorry it took so long. Internet was out.

Here is another "Who wants to be a Millionaire" question. It is a $4000 question this time. Just like before, you get 3 lifelines. Please PM me the answer. You can ask for lifelines here though. Just do not post the answer here.

Bonus: You will get 4 points if you do not use any lifelines. I will minus one point for each lifeline you use or wrong answer you get.

It's been awhile, but I finally found time to check your answer, Sparkle. And you are completely right! :) Indeed I counted the crossings seperately.

Does CantrLady want to ask the next question?
