False Quotes

Postby kinvoya » Sun Sep 11, 2005 10:38 pm

http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 863#111863

On this page I ask a poster to remove a quote/sign he has in his signature which attributes to me something I have never said. I asked him to remove it and he seems to be refusing.

I don't think this issue has come up before. I don't find what he is pretending I said to be insulting or offensive but I just don't like someone displaying something so large and noticeable and just not true.

I think it's a bad precident to set. Posters should not be allowed to post false quotes as if another poster actually said them.

I was loosely quoteing something you said on the same thread.

but i couldn't give a shit anymore, you've got some kinda personal problem with me. Considering I never said anything towards you nor did I expect anyone whe ever existed to take me seriously, I can't see why. So I'll leave it thanks! :D

I neither know nor care what the back story is, but if you want her to get off your case, clear out the offending part of your signature. An apology might be in order, for the careless way you're handling this as much as for any slight, but I'm not sure I can expect that and won't press for it.

Why, does she find it offensive?

I don't find what he is pretending I said to be insulting or offensive

As far as I can tell, she doesn't want it there and has gone as far as a moderation request to get it off. It would seem she cares. That's all I feel qualified to say about this; I'll leave you two, the CD and whoever else jumps in to sort it out.

And I meant "offending" in the sense of "causing a problem," which it is.

Cookie, please remove the signature...

If you 'couldn't give a shit anymore', why do it? I don't think whether Kinvoya has a problem with you is really relevent... you are deliberately winding her up, and that is pointless.

Just calm it down, both of you.

Cookie, this forum is not for discussion, it is for requests, and answering requests.

Please remove the offending signature.

I was never deliberately wnding her up, not until this post anyway.

Surely this forum allows for people to disagree?

To disagree, but not to make silly remarks like "You tell me." That doesn't get us anywhere, now does it?

If you mean the forum as a whole, I don't think anyone can say discussion is discouraged.

If, however, you mean 'Moderation Requests', then no. There has never been any question about this, this is NOT a discussion forum.

Please remove the sig Cookie. And there will be no more discussion here.
