Animal domestication question

I'm just getting into this animal domestication thing.

Is there any way to secure your animals aside from locking them in a building? If not, I might suggest animal pens, but I bet it's been suggested before..!

Yea. You just need to make sure all people taking care of animals have a key to it.

Haha that's great. Thank you. You can tell I really am new to animal domestication... I never really looked into it in-game or in the wiki.
