In the bazillion times I've seen complaints about it on the forum it all was bad luck, so, yeah, count on it that it's bad rng ;)

Well Rmak, that's how it feels when you end up in the tail of a random variable distribution.
It is the same as if you complained that you won in a lottery while all of your friends didn't.

I should just be able to pour a chemical agent on this variable distribution and make it explode.

But yes, I record this journey of lock breaking.

Actually it sounds like a good idea! We have explosive powder, why not be able to use it to just simply blow the lock up?

16 is not that bad. Lockbreaking attempts only take one day each. There are worse streaks of bad luck ...
I think ...

I had a character work on breaking 1 lock for literal Cantrian years. I lost count of the days.

I think the answer to that is obvious :P

And Rmak, it seems your character just has terrible luck. Perhaps have them take a break from it and reassess whether the lock really needs to be broken?
