Remember when the old server got horribly slow? Seemed to me that by far the biggest contributing factor to that was when“tiredness” got added to the hourly updates (ironically!). Any other complexifying stuff been added recently? The worst period seems to start around Cantrian lunchtime. Coincidence?
Anyway, here’s an idea; What if you change it so that tiredness only gets added when you fight? Since the idea of tiredness basically seems to be to slow down fighting, the other tiredness updates seem redundant now, and they presumably still put a strain on the server. Doesn’t fix the current problem, I know, but it might give a lot more leeway and ameliorate the other effects.

I noticed it is very slow from yesterday. Yesterday at late evening of Polish time Cantr was so slow, that login in taked many minutes, and minutes ran out too fast Today at the morning of Polish time it was much better, but now it happens again...
EDIT: At now it is ok I hope that it will stay like that rest of the day

The time measurements that we have show that our code is at some places incredibly inefficient. That needs correction. This doesn't mean removing functionality, just optimizing the code.
Also, the problems with our previous server were not really our fault, actually. There we had a so-called 'virtual server', which means that from our perspective it looked like a server, but in fact we were sharing the computer with others. After we moved Cantr to our current server I tried that website again and it was still so slow (!) - in other words, it was the other users on our server, not us, that slowed things down. I felt a bit cheated with that, but alas, what can you do ... Now we have a fully dedicated server and donations that well cover this more expensive option, so things are going well. Now we can grow Cantr so that we'll need more than one server ...
But in any case, slowness is due to inefficient code, not functions. One thing takes really a lot of resources - the fact that our site is available in several languages - but this ability is highly valued and will thus not just be removed.
