Vuvuzela, I hate those things, but it would be fun to roleplay the annoying sound. Could really get under someones skin. Could make it out of wood or something. I don't know. We have oil couldn't we make some crude form of plastic. Use a mold in the kiln.

Re: Suggestions for New Instruments
Seriously not in the mood to search for anything that's not already on this page, so here I go.
A whole line of piccolos!
Primitive wooden piccolo: 100g wood
Tools needed: chisel, carving knife
Wooden piccolo: 100g wood, 10g nickel OR 5g nickel & 5g silver
Zinc piccolo (these exist IRL): 125g zinc
Silver-plated piccolo: 80g nickel, 20g silver
Silver piccolo: 125g silver
Gold piccolo: 125g gold
Tools needed: carving knife (wooden piccolo only), chisel, screwdriver, peen hammer
The wooden ones should definitely rot faster but be less expensive as far as repairs go. The metal ones take longer to rot but also to repair.
I suppose a few in the list can be deleted, but they're all possibilities. It would also open up some good roleplay opportunies (a.k.a. headaches).
