Helicopters are in the database as well, that's for sure. It's just not programmed in yet for ariel vehicles.

Balloons

Postby g1asswa1ker » Thu Apr 29, 2004 1:35 am

I think hot air balloons should enter cantr before helicopter.

I've looked around and did some figuring to raise one cantr person based off some of game concepts and some real world physics. You would need:
Image
about 20kg of silk cloth filled with hot air
and that would cover the weight of the person at full inventory
and 3kg of wood for a carrier of some kind, maybe like a basket.
Image
You would have to build a burner to heat the the air.
I figure 3kg of Aluminum, 40g of rubber and 40g of magnesium.
Image
I also think this would be a good place for a helicopter engine. Better control. Otherwise you would be subject to drift.
Image
Now you would have to add more silk and wood for more people.

How would an airship/hot air balloon work? Like a ship, except you land and lift off instead of docking and undocking? Would you need an airfield to land? How fast would it go?

Do not airships and hot air balloons move with the current wind direction? How would you steer them? Plus, there's no wind in Cantr yet...

Is not an Airship the same or slimilar to a Blimp? If so, then it would still be influenced by the wind... otherwise, if not, then I have no idea what I'm thinking an Airship is.

Influenced? Yes. stopped? No.

Remember the Hindenburg. From Germany to the US... Atlantic crossing, tho. *Tradewinds*.

Yes airships would be effected by air just like waterships are effected by currants in the ocean. Since man has long since figured out how to take advantage of being able to redirect or use this to their advantage. And @Sho if this was something that was made into Cantr all your questions would have to be what? Ummm found out in game, Right? Right.

Damn...with motorcycles, skateboards etc. my vision of Cantr as a fairly medieval place will be harder to maintain

I would like to see horse drawn carriages or just plain horses as "vehicles"...
