An Ironclad would be pretty awesome. It would take A LOT of iron, but not need any wood.

I guess that should wait until we can have engines on ships. I very much like the idea of all iron (aluminum, steel etc.) ships though.
Pretty in pink.

Re: Suggestion for new vehicles
I suppose it probably would need an engine. If ship engines are in the eventual future, the shell of the ship could be created and the metal rooms. Even if it needs like 2 vehicle engines. They could possibly be applied, just not take effect yet.

Re: Suggestion for new vehicles
Well, having an effect is not the problem, we have sails after all. Using fuel is where it gets problematic.
Pretty in pink.

It should take same or a bit more wood than a galleon, and then a good deal of iron. Ironclads are just as the name depics, a boat covered in metal.

Re: Suggestion for new vehicles
The problem with ironclads is that they're steam-powered, which implies an engine. All ships thus far have been powered by sails. A steam-powered ship would travel drastically faster than one powered by sails, given it wasn't at the mercy of the wind, and given how fast ships are already, I doubt we need an even faster one.

Re: Suggestion for new vehicles
if we had a steam powered speedship like an ironclad, their capacity would expectedly be lower than a comparable wooden ship with sails and/or weight effect would just become a negligible consideration for it.

We have buses, why not RV's. Allow more things to be built inside of them. Bed, table, chairs, maybe a workbench, or some food prep items.

Re: Suggestion for new vehicles
I think it would make sense if there were land vehicles that didn't require rubber (besides the small wooden cart). Cartwheels don't require rubber. I'm mainly looking for something that would allow traveling faster, weight capacity is secondary.

Hot air balloon requires silk ,wood, steel , propane
Travels on land and water.
Sorry since it has already been suggested even though it is a good idea I would like to suggest a zepplin also.
Oh and no Clipper ,A clipper was a very fast sailing ship of the 19th century that had three or more masts and a square rig. They were generally narrow for their length, could carry limited bulk freight, small by later 19th century standards, and had a large total sail area. The boom years of the Clipper Ship Era began in 1843 as a result of the growing demand for a more rapid delivery of tea from China. It continued under the stimulating influence of the discovery of gold in California and Australia in 1848 and 1851, and ended with the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869.
