With respect... I'm not trying to ruin anything, if that is your implication.
Is this a rp game or is it driven entirely by game mechanics? People can't rp eating without some line that says... You see X eat a chip.. from a plate?
Personally... I'm not particularly sure I want to have to read these lines, if the eating is going to be visible in such a way. It spoils the flow of the text to have to read these line.
I was waiting to be convinced... but, alas...

Thanks
Done... entirely.

Any day you can aivailable event page filters so you will can just turn off eat events by default I think ;) We need hard mechanics in game, because this give our imagination some borders - we need borders because our imagination are to powerful sometimes ;)

I like this one too. It's true, without this implementation, dishes and silverware are mainly for show and it's more common to not hand people things in containers because then they have to get them back out. And while "You see X eat some chips from a plate." might seem like it would be annoying to read, is it really any more annoying than say...

"You see X use coal on refining iron ore
You see X use iron ore on refining iron ore
You see X use limestone on refining iron ore"

Or how about:

"You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note.
You see X take copy of note."

Or even better...
"You see X talking to Y.
You see X talking to Y.
You see Y talking to X.
You see X talking to Y.
You see X talking to Y.
You see Y talking to X.
You see X talking to Z.
You see X talking to Y.
You see Y talking to X.
You see X talking to Y.
You see Z talking to X.
You see X talking to Y."

...seriously.

So to me, the fact that it "clutters" events means absolutely nothing LOL. And I happen to have one of the shoddiest internet connections imaginable. It is SO tedious for me every time I have to take things out of storage and stuff, when my internet will only be on 1 minute at a time and then cuts me off. It would be much simpler, ANYTHING that can be implemented into less clicks or steps. Not out of laziness, but because my internet sucks and every time I try to do things on Cantr, I wind up sitting here fuming and screaming at my computer to "hurry the fuck up and let me finish picking things up!" when I could have just grabbed or eaten it all at once. These new implementations are really nice for me and I'm grateful. Anything like this or the ones that have been implemented so far are welcome as far as I'm concerned.

It is not more or less annoying, it is just one more ADDITION to the existing annoyance. Just because others exist it doesn't mean we have to put up with one more.
I like the original suggestion, but not the generation of events option. It is limiting, if nothing else. I may want to have the convenience of the button, but may also choose to rp my eating in a different way than the events suggest - which is entirely mechanical. So if I want to eat a chip from a plate, lets say, messily or whatever... I will not be able to use the button as it is not ideal to have both the event message and the rp post.

What if there was a checkbox to make the event optional? Then people who wanted to use it could do that and those who didn't want to could opt out. It wouldn't harm anyone if it was only usable for containers being held.

I like the idea from the standpoint of "fewer clicks". It is a bit of a pain to have to empty small amounts of food from a plate etc to eat it. There are certain places that used to (still do?) have parties where complete meals are handed out on plates.

I do not like the idea from an RP perspective. I've been fortunate to RP some amazing dining experiences in the game that would have only been disrupted by a mechanical message in the midst of the RP. I'd rather there was no event generated. I think it will promote laziness and create too much rigidness. For example, the mechanical message for slapping forces the RP to be played out as it being a slap to the person's face. It can be awkward when that's not what the player intended. Besides, it's far more interesting when people emote that action.

Summary: good idea for ease of use, bad idea for a message to be posted when used.

I think that's a good goal to have, as long as it is balanced against cluttering up the interface too much. Less time clicking, in theory, means more time for RP. I realize it doesn't work that way necessarily, but in general the more seamless the interface is to work with - the more positive the experience of the game in general.

That said... I'm not 100% sold on this suggestion, but I think that I like it.

People could still RP it in addition to the event - much like people already do with attacking, and occasionally with other sorts of auto-generated events like taking things out of storage. I don't see it as preventing that.

That said, there is still the argument that it could be disruptive to dining RP.
