Sounds good to me. I always feel like calling it potato liquor is lacking something, a bit generic. I was going to make up a name for it with my character that makes the stuff, but having a universally accepted name would be cool.

Re: Rename Potato spirit to Vodka
I always though of the potato spirit as a form of Poitin - Irish Moonshine in my head and the grain derived spirits as vodka. It also has other names in other cultures: Shōchū, Soju, Systembolaget and Brännvin. These seem much more exciting to me then vodka for some reason, which I associate with a commercial product, not a home based, pot still product. I was waiting for someone to make moonshine illegal ingame so we could have bootleg runners....
From Wiki.
Poitín [ˈpˠotʲiːn], anglicised as Poteen or Potcheen, is a traditional Irish distilled, highly alcoholic beverage (60%-95% ABV).[1] Poitín was traditionally distilled in a small pot still and the term is a diminutive[2] of the Irish word pota, meaning "pot". Traditionally distilled from malted barley grain or potatoes, it is one of the strongest alcoholic beverages in the world, and for centuries was illegal in Ireland.

Systembolaget is the Swedish government owned outlet for all strong alcoholic beverages, not a type of drink. Brännvin though is a slang that would do for most pure spirits. It's often used for vodka. The direct translation of it would be "burn-wine".

Re: Rename Potato spirit to Vodka
Well, if the English LG wants to rename the drink into vodka because spirit sounds too strange, I won't argue with that. I would find it misleading though, since the spirits are technically raw, untreated distillates and neither filtered as vodka nor aged like whiskey. I also don't see the necessity for other LGs to follow the example, which could cause minor confusions.
If this is indeed such a huge issue, we might as well implement a charcoal filter and make true vodka (and whiskey in a cask). We'll have to go over the alcoholic beverages anyway.

I don't think it's a huge issue, just the issue of interest of the week. I agree with filtration.

So the poll is almost timed out and we have 17 to 4 in favour. What do we think Resources Department?

Re: Rename Potato spirit to Vodka
I tend to agree with Piscator here (though I originally voted "no opinion"). It would be really nice to have the raw moonshine stuff we have now, maybe a little faster to make? And in addition a more refined and expensive drink.
Oh, and the name Lagavullin is hereby taken for my (chars) distillery. Anyone trying to infringe on that will be sent lawyers by the masses, as well as a PD report for OOC influence.

I didnt get to vote but I say no. My chars refer to it as vodka, and I do not understand why this is a problem. The current implementation allows you to create different drinks without having to gunk thinks up with extra processes. You can then call the resukt whatever you wish. This is effectively the same way we are looking at implementing generic indoor decorative artwork.
