If this was easy enough to implement I think it could add some entertainment and drama to Cantr.
I was thinking along the lines of a sustained task, but with a variable damage amount at certain intervals. The grabbed at piece of clothing would have 100/no damage to start and might require a few hours to rip from the other char's body, depending on the material and composition.
You see a man in his twenties tear off Hector's cotton trousers.
It stands to reason that clothing should degrade over time and require reparation, which could also be implemented (probably less favourably).
The stolen/grabbed piece of clothing could then be repaired and worn by the thief/attacker or, more likely returned to their rightful owner whilst the criminal is battered to death. If an attempt was made and a character's clothing was damaged, this could appear in their description - He wears a pair of torn cotton trousers.
I did a search, but couldn't find any similar suggestions from before - apologies in advance if this isn't the case.

Re: Ripping/grabbing at clothes
I'm trying to picture this because if this were tried with some of my characters, the offender wouldn't have anything left to grab WITH pretty much immediately.
How would dodging/swatting someone's hand away work? Would this get used for much other than a new way for suicidal newspawns to try to get themselves killed? I guess maybe snatching jewelry, but almost anyone with jewelry worth grabbing will probably be able to defend themselves, hence my last point.
Although if we did have clothing rot introduced, it would be interesting for RP IF the cantr environment changed. Like I said, the way people act now I'm pretty sure this is going to be a crime punishable by lockup or death.

That's true. It probably would be an annoying new trick for suicidal newspawns.
I'd suggest each piece of clothing is different, because of the material strength, but here's an idea for some cotton trousers -
0 hours - the person hits the button and starts to tear at your clothing.
1 hour - approximately 30% with deviation - a pair of cotton trousers with a hole.
2 hours - roughly 30% with deviation - a torn pair of cotton trousers.
3 hours - roughly 30% with deviation - very torn pair of cotton trousers.
4 hours - the remainder if deviation hasn't already allowed for the clothing to be destroyed.
I think that assaulting the attacker should stop the project. If the trousers were grabbed at again, it would start from the beginning of the hour again. I think there should be an alternative, like you describe, such as 'push' or 'escape clutches of x' whereby your character moves a little bit away from the attacker.
This has got me thinking about customisable clothing. For instance, the knights/soldier/workers of a town might have the name of their organisation on their clothing. If somebody lost their job or fell out of favour they could have the club clothing ripped from their back. I've just finished watching Sons of Anarchy, if anyone is wondering where that came from. I'll start plotting a motorbike gang soon, I think
edit -
And, just to complicate the idea, I think that clothes should be damaged by the same mechanism when attacked with a weapon, relative to the damage done.

Re: Ripping/grabbing at clothes
Someone else put into words what I'm thinking please?
It's hard enough out there for some of my girls. Having the clothes ripped off them has too many sexual connotations. I only want their clothes ripped off them when - I - want their clothes ripped off them. That doesn't sound quite right, does it. Hopefully you all know what I mean.
