If a sea battle mechanism isn't being considered, then I say yes, kill it. At least the larger part of swimming as though one were in a ship. Swimming as an activity that builds strength and adds tiredness, I am in support of.

I agree with Doug and Redqueen.exe.
The original idea is great. The rest... please not. There are too many 'what ifs' and 'pear shaped' mechanics, as well as the programming difficulties.
