This suggestion is a bit silly. You're stating the same information you would anyway except now it'd be a ton more obfuscated.

This is what I thought at first also. However, it does solve the problem of knowing other character's exact ages when they reach another decade, and it means you'll be less sure whether or not someone is in their thirties, forties, etc, especially since there would be less age specifiers. I think it would add realism.
