I'd like it if you could set a small 'tile' that came up next to your name to other people.
"Jeff who is <title>"
"Jeff who is sleeping."
"Jeff who is crying."
"Jeff who is looking at the sky curiously."
perhaps not great examples.
It'd give you an immediate look at what characters were doing. And it should be in a place VERY easy to update.

Re: Titles
Melikeythis.
I can already see myself updating it every five seconds (if I didn't have to eat and sleep and to go school and whatever, but who cares about that?).
"Snick who is glancing at ***."
5 sec. later...
"Snick who is thinking."
5 sec. later...
"Snick who is still thinking."
5 sec. later...
"Snick who is still still thinking."
5 sec. later...
"Snick who is sleeping."
Edit: That being said, it might take some moderation as far as frequency of updates (thusly disallowing me to change it every five seconds) and what it is they update with. It could be like the chardesc in that it automatically updates, but a notif is sent regardless.
Originally: I support this.
Edit: Originally I supported this, and I still like it, but some of the rather obvious things that don't require updating for awhile (like sleep, for instance) could just as easily put into the char desc.

Re: Titles
To basically you want Facebook status in Cantr, right? It could work, and I woul give it a try.
I guess best place for it would be in mouseover popup window.

Re: Titles
Well, if this status is supposed to be updated frequently, just emote it. Most towns aren't that active that you can't scroll down a bit to see what a char is doing.

Re: Titles
I would hate to see all formerly excited newspawns still "jumping up and down, and happy-dances" after sleeping for five years or so.

Re: Titles
No, no, they wouldn't be sleeping, they would be jumping and happy-dancing for five years. This way people would at least not automatically assume that someone is sleeping if they don't say anything for a while.
edit: By the way, if someone is now going to suggest to automatically reset the status after a day, let me point to my emoting suggestion again.

Re: Titles
Piscator just an example, it's horrible to have to reemote saying "got their hair cut", it'd be better if we could show immediate action/change immediately, and not have to reemote it everywhere we go.

Re: Titles
The suggestion has some merit, but lots of drawbacks. I'm not convinced either way.

Re: Titles
I don't get that example really. Why wouldn't you just put "has short hair" into your character description? That's why we have it after all.
