"You hear "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" from the north-west."

Like that?

I was thinking:

You hear"Blaaaaaaaaaah!" from Green harbour(a brand new harbour)
or
You hear"Blaaaaaaaaaah!" from Tomatofighter(a brand new galleon)

Simple and really useful.

( It could even just be a "loud sound", without telling players where it's coming from. Let the harbour or ship identify themselves however they want to do it. )

I think it should say where it's coming from, as both harbours and ships have fixed names, and it would be far more useful for those hearing it to know.

I was thinking about a small selection of sounds to indicate different messages.

"You hear a call for help from ....."
"You hear a threatening call from ....."
"You hear a docking notification from ....."

The idea I had was originally going to suggest replacing the current radio communications to solve some issues, but it may be more suited to ships and harbours.
