Flag Pole/Flag
In celebration of America's independence, I thought why not suggest the idea that Cantr characters be allowed to make Flag Pole's and Flags to show their devotion to their town/nation/state/whatever.

I seriously doubt a spammer is going to learn the dynamics of the game just to put www.goldenpalace.com or some other crap up on a pole, but even if they do, someone could just take it off the flag pole in the game.
What I was more thinking a flag could be good for is letting people see what territory they are entering.
What I mean by this is you know how you see a lighthouse from far away by boat, well a person could be able to see the flag from far away by boat or on land and then know who is in charge (if anyone) of the city they are entering. This could help spur a sense of nationalism in the game which would be pretty interesting to see.
Plus it would be pretty cool if someone could click view to see the flag (if they were close enough, or even using a telescope) and they see an actual picture uploaded onto the cantr server much in the same way people are able to upload pictures onto notes.

So a flag would, essentially, be a note that people could see from far away, and couldn't pick up?

That's basically what I just said. You could easily do the same thing with a note, this would just be making it more noticable, and no one could steal it.

But notes are boring and infinite.
I'm thinking in a pole like, a landmark, or a machine of some sort. Can be made of wood, maybe logs or even iron or steel. A flag would be made of cloth, maybe with similar dynamics of a note, but a made item. Once you made it, you can hoist it so everyone within a radius can see it.
For spammers, well, you can't just unhoist a flag and change it with your bare hands. It can be changed, but only using the items used to make it: a needle and a knife, other items if you want. A simple solution but it can avoid most of ignorant spammers. Also, hoisting a flag would be a small project, very small, but enough to be noticed by someone.

I was just saying that a flag would accomplish much more noticably what a note could do.
I would also like to see flags, and of course there would have to be the building of a flag pole and then the flag itself. Then the hoisting of the flag as well. Maybe make that a one hour project?

So what I was thinking is that we can do the same in Cantr. Flags can work as a sign that can be seen by all who can see the ship. But they can be removed and replaced for when the ship trade hands or what not.
Just a thought since I have had a character traveling in the water and have seen quite a bit water traffic.
