:lol: Sorry I missed this back then. I hope swimfan is still around to check it.

Lately, I have been scheming up ideas to try and put MySpace to work for us. My first idea is a rather viral advertising approach using the MySpace bulletins. Send out a Bulletin to your friends titled "In Cantr, I AM..." and a body of:

At www.cantr.net I can be...

1) A postman
2) A pirate
3) A piece of...

Well, I think you get the idea. :)

The marketing department is again active. If anyone has any websites that they come across where they feel Cantr should be listed or promoted, please post them in this thread.

After some forum exploring, I finally came across this thread...

about.spanish.com

I don't know how I can advertise here.

Any other ideas?

www.urbandead.com

Oh! I created an account there a long time ago and forgot about the game. Somehow my character is still alive.

I posted something about Cantr in their wiki General Discussion, since they don't seem to have a forum.

This is definitely a Marketing suggestion:

Let's make Cantr registration automatic. I'm convinced that a lot of people don't bother waiting for their account to be accepted, they just google for some other game and then don't come back.

I You think that every new account need to be approved, do it while player is already in game.

Instant access is very important to keep players coming in!

I agree to this, since, as he said, bad accounts can be deleted afterwards. It would be worth it for the convenience. Plus, it seems like this:
(Edit: List of player applications removed. It shouwed a player applying 13 times in a row. /Mod)

Doesn't happen as often as it used to.

That's nice. What reasons would that be?

I find this change so fundamental that simple "no" without any arguments won't stop me! 8)

If new players can do so much harm, all we need is just some code which stop them.

Before account approval:

* no fighting
* no picking up anything from the floor (except food)
* no docking/undocking
* no driving

Pick some or all of them. Char still be able to have items/resources, but only when they are given to him. He still can sail or drive, but not by himself.

But anyway, cause I have no idea what those clowns are capable of - need some info from PD - please tell me what is common and what isn't so I will be able to present possibly better solution.

The matter is of a sensitive kind, so you won't get any detailed reasons. Lets just say that the review stage is necessary to stop cheating and multiple accounts.

Anyhow, I was under the impression there's hardly any wait at all for new players at the moment? Or is that not true?

And I don't think coding all of that stuff you suggest is well spent time. :)

Have You ever played Fallout? :)

Almost half of my chars are just exploring the postapocaliptic wasteland full of abandoned places, just looting what's left there.

For me, getting new players should be the highest priority. Every change that can bring some of them is worth coding.

More players means chance for more Staff, more programmers, more RD disscussion, and more work done with less effort. So it's like an investment :)

I agree that more players are welcome, but not at the cost of less security and more cheaters.

Edit: And I did play the original Fallout a lot. Assuming you are talking about Fallout 3? I've played that only a little. I fail to see any resemlance of that to this discussion though. :)
