Well, if were going to look at other stuff what about dismantiling an oven or something in to different parts not right down to the basic materials, this way you could manufacture parts for an oven or similar and then sell them which allows you have a wear and tear affect on machines.

How about buildings with windows so you can still hear what is going on outside. Or doors made of bars so you can talk to a criminal without going into the cell.

What about the ability to build 'mine areas' or 'greenhouse' rooms inside buildings? that would allow exclusive access to resources... somewhat key to many of the less popular forms of society.

Also, building topology is very limited now, isn't it? A multi-room building has a tree structure, never more than one way from the entrance to a room. If a new room could be connected to existing rooms... think secret passages... and getting really, really lost in a building.
