NaNoWriMo?
Who's doing it this year?
It usually ends in spectacular failure for me so myself and a few others I'm writing with are just aiming for 30k.
Maybe it seems like cheating but I feel like Cantr's a pretty good excuse for being almost half less productive than everyone else.

I've said I'm doing it this year, but my word count isn't reflecting that yet.

Definitely throwing my verbosity toward it. Trying to ignore most of their forums, though. They tend to annoy me with endless arguments about adverbs.

Not actually doing NaNoWriMo, though I have so many papers this month I might actually make the word count.

There was an "inspirational talk" that one NaNoWriMo person gave that had her character write a graduate English paper because the writer actually had a paper to write. The only rule is that it's gotta be 50k (to validate). I've heard of people writing and submitting grocery lists.
Right now, I'm barely at word count and I'll probably sweat blood tomorrow to get ahead. Life's only allowed me a few hundred words every night so far. I only caught up this morning. It wasn't a grocery list, but it seems damn close.
Anywho, I won it a few years ago, pre-Cantr return. Great feeling. I didn't win last year. This year, I need a confidence boost, so I'm trying to win. One day, I hope to publish something.

Finished. 53,891 as of 11/29. Validated. So, "won". Glad they don't grade on content, just quantity.
...
I'm going to go lie down now.

I'm doing it this year. It's doubtful I'll create anything cohesive, but I like the idea of a time constraint to encourage productivity.

Re: NaNoWriMo?
A bit off topic but I was writing a story last year, not because of NaNoWriMo but coincidentally during it. It's hard to believe it's been so long since that, it feels as if it was just recently.

Re: NaNoWriMo?
I'm intrigued. I really, really, really doubt I will have the time to do it, but might set up a lesser goal for myself to spur my writing on. Like NaShoStoWriMo or something.

I have three major papers due in the month of November. Not going to happen.

Re: NaNoWriMo?
I tried this one year; didn't get very far. I've meant to every year since then, but seem to forget until it's half over. I really should try again!
