As part of my "Gee, Jos is right, let's liven things up a bit" Campaign, I had a random idea: Lots of people collect things. And generally, when people like to collect something, they're very passionate about it, and may want to share that passion. :D I think it'd be interesting to see what things Cantrians collect, and why they love them. I'll start!

Things Dingo collects:
-Comic books (Almost uniformly DC and Zenescope)
-Shot glasses
-Some coins (American pennies and quarters)
-In past time, I was big into MtG.
-I collect Lego. BIG time!

Edit: I left out Stephen King books. I collect those, too! :D

You and my mother would get along well! xD

Well, I don't collect things, but I would like to start with something, BUT I don't really have that much money at all to blow on stuff. I tried collecting pokemon cards for a while, but then my dad threw them away D:<

Some things are very inexpensive to collect. For example, as far as the coins go, I've never purchased a single one of my coins. Every one that I have I've either gotten through change, or I've traded with another collector. A bulk of my collection came as gifts.

But I do understand what you're saying about the cost of things. I can't even begin to describe the amount of money (ashamedly) that I've spent on Magic or comics. And I still actively collect comics. :/ Still, its an almost existential joy I get at having a complete run of everything Batman related from the New 52 :D

After today's cleaning I guess I must say that I used to collect boots and shoes, although I was unaware of it.
Today's treasure: a pair of new rock that I haven't wore yet.

Guess I should try to sell/giveaway at least half that stuff.

I collect books:

Dick Francis
Agatha Christie
Isaac Asimov
Arthur C Clarke
Van Vogt
Allan Edgar Poe
Enid Blyton
Thomas Hardy

Other classics I really enjoyed. I buy from thrift shops and swap meets etc.

My son collects lego

Super hero - especially batman
Harry potter
But the factor here is money, as lego is expensive. I suggested he seriously collect figurines and just play with the rest.

All the closers from beerbottles (don't the exact name atm) from every different beer I ever drank... I got well over 200 before deciding I was bored with it and they were just sitting there doing nothing but tell me I'm a drunk xd

My brother collects beer bottles too, but he left them all in a shell in a flat we both use sometimes, so I always need to explain friends that the drunk is not me...

Myself, more than collect, I accumulate lots of things... But I love my pens and dice.

I collect fountain pens, they're my little treasure (my precioussssss)

I wouldn't say I "collect" books, but I do love them, and buy new ones anytime I have the money to spend in caprices. Mostly fantasy (I finally own the whole Dragonlance) and gothic literature (not sure if it has the same meaning in english... stories of ghosts, haunted houses, strange events in general, such as Poe, Lovecraft, Hoffmann, etc). Also, classics of horror literature, classics in general, poetry... and so on.

And when I was a teenager, I used to collect lottery tickets and bookmarks. And I had a huge collection of the humour magazine "El Jueves" that I threw to the trash in a fit of rage when I was divorcing... I regret that :(

Gñe, I'll give "Clara de noche" a bath and then she's mine! Don't treat her like that, my poor pragmatic lovely hooker.

With books, I wouldn't say exactly that I collect them, but there ain't a single place of my flat where you can't find a pile. When I have one of my intermittents "cleaning killing sprees" -which are the reason why I am incapacitated to collect anything- I fill a box or two with the ones that I am almost sure that I won't read again in the next couple of years and give them to a public library.
Then I always miss some of them and have to borrow for a quick read, but still I do it again and am pretty sure that I'm about to do it one of this days.

My mother collects sheet music. Since she plays organ, and often likes to play with other instruments as well.

I love to see what everyone collects! :D There's some truly fascinating things out there. I also realised, I collect Coca-Cola paraphernalia. I have all different kinds of bottles, mugs, glasses, a clock, a few posters, even a puzzle :D

Nail polish. It's actually pretty bad, since they go for around eight or nine dollars a bottle, but they're all so pretty. *o* I also collect currency from different countries. It seems like the whole world has more interesting currency than the US.

And then there are things that I don't exactly collect, but that I have a lot of and consciously make an effort to get more of. These mostly include perfumes, books, and shoes.

Eerie, I was going to say the same thing. I don't pay anywhere near that much for them though. :P You need to start looking for sales; pharmacies can be good for that sort of thing.

Haha, I just keep thinking of things that I collect. In this case, I collect lots of little Batman things: obviously the comics and the movies, but I also collect mugs, HeroClix of Batman, Pez dispensers, posters, you name it. :D
