What movie did you see today?

I saw there were no recent topic on this, so I thought of starting on myself.

So, I saw Dogma (relesed 1999) today, and I must say it was a good comedy. Matt Daemon, Ben Affleck and Chris Rock happend to be in it, but it was far from the starts stealing the whole show. I especially liked Metatron, aka the Voice of God(played by Alan Rickman, some know him as Snapes from hary Potter). Never have the expression "Jesus Christ!" been more appropriate IMO as used in the movie where the 13th apostle appears :) . I recommend it to anyone who likes comedies and are able to laugh at their own beliefs.(warning: include puns on religion, not for the serious)

An abortion clinic worker is called upon to save the existence of humanity from being negated by two renegade angels trying to exploit a loophole and re-enter Heaven.

I like Kevin Smith films. And Dogma it's the one I like the most. Maybe because I associate it with good memories...

Haven't seen it in ages! But I remember laughing while I was watching it. Still remember a scene, where they're all on a bus or something and the chick is complaining about having to save the world or blow it up xD

I've been plotting having a Lord of the Rings marathon on one of my days off in a couple of weekends. Hopefully, it'll go down :)

Sunday night I went to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One. Amazing. Loved it, am reading the book now.

Today I saw the Passion of the Christ.
A movie I'd recommend for anybody at least over the age of twelve regardless of religion (atheism and agnosticism included). Maybe older depending on how well you can handle graphic violence.

I saw Tron Legacy (sometimes I don't know if I want to do Olivia Wilde, or be Olivia Wilde) a little while ago, and since then have seen... Lincoln Lawyer (it was okay, I guess?) and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

That reminds me of a quote (attributed to Kung Fu Monkey and/or John Rogers??) making the rounds recently: "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." :D

My recent movies:

• The One Percent - lefty documentary about inequality in America. Not as hard-hitting as most in the genre. More of a personal project by a Johnson heir (of Johnson & Johnson) trying to figure things out. [Spoiler: The biggest moment is when Warren Buffet disowns his granddaughter for speaking with the filmmaker.]

• Easy A - fun! High school is hell, and classic literature is classic for a reason. Emma Stone makes it work.

• Source Code - good SF thriller. I liked that the soldier wasn't all gung-ho but instead was trying to figure out his own personal situation as well as the mission.

Last night I watched "The Cry of the Owl" (2009 version). It wasn't that great of a movie.

On another note about movies I regularly rate and review movies on this site http://www.moovee.me if anyone is interested. I got introduced to it via Netflix even though it is a Brazilian website but it has a couple English speaking people on it. My name on that site is the same as it is on the forums here; rklenseth.

"Gentleman's Agreement" (1947). Now my 13yo wants to see it, after I described the plotline.

Well, I had taken my mom out to see it because she'd been having a tough week and needed to relax, and she didn't like it at all - but she's more a romcom sort of person. I think the soundtrack turned her off, too, which is hilarious because the soundtrack is what sold the movie for me. The music was a bit different, not your typical spy fare, but I really enjoyed it. All in all, though, I think it had more of a Girl With The Dragon Tattoo vibe than a James Bond vibe. Just IMO. But I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

I saw Thor today. Twas a very beautiful movie because of both the CGI and the actors. Asgard was pretty trippy, Christ Hemsworth was shirtless quite often, and Natalie Portman is one of a few actresses who can unconsciously summon forth my inner male. Well worth the two hours for me. :)

Star Wars ruined Natalie Portman for me.

Anway, saw Kick Ass yesterday. Fantastic.
