Re: Political Compass Test
Maybe that explains it. I've always seen myself a bit "more centered" in the economic left-right line than what that graphic shows.

Re: Political Compass Test
I was curious whether I had moved much ...
My 2003 result:
Economic Left/Right: -1.88
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.90
My 2011 result:
Economic Left/Right: -2.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.59
I thought I had moved further to the right/libertarian corner, but it seems I moved in the opposite direction ...

I don't remember the exact stats, but the last time I took it I was something like +5.08 X axis and +.2 on the Y axis. I was surprised by the Y axis. I knew I was right wing on the X and it was about right. I lean pretty hard on that side.
Snickie, I am starting to like you too!
Be well

I'm freaking close to Dalai Lama. :"D Sure there's a little margin of error, because my English aren't so great after all, but the main current seems to be clear.

I did this ages ago, and didn;t like it then. it subsumes politics into two binaries - right/left and authoritarian/libertarian.
Both binaries are increaisngly pluralistic, and answers to many issues (aprticularly the environment) in recent times no longer fall easily along those axis.
Anyway, I did it again and came out pretty much the same:
Your political compass:
Economic Left/Right: -9.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.28
Which is a bit more extreme libertarian than last time.
I've always been a bit miffed by this test. Politically, I'm a strong socialist, and belive in state (or, preferabbly, local government) provision and regulation for many things.
Yet, at the same time, I have a very deep and intrinsic mistruct for authority, and hierarchical control in any form, particularly national governments. The latter seems to come out stronger in this test.
Done now:
Economic Left/Right: -9.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.05
What's interesting is that I've shifted increasingly to an anarchist position in my own politics since I last did that test.
(Though not in the US sense of the term (there seems to be a massive difference between US libertarian free marketerring anti-statism called "anarchism" to the European tradiation))
It seems the test is predicated upon the existence of the state; moving from prefering a non-authoritarian state to no state at all (a pretty significant shift) has had no impact whatsoever upon the outcome of theat test for me...
Whoever you vote for.
The government wins.
The government wins.

Re: Political Compass Test
I've taken this so many times I know how to get right into the bottom left hand corner, although if I take it normally I'm usually quite deep in that corner anyway. Here's me when I take it properly -
Economic Left/Right: -8.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.15
Economic Left/Right: -8.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.15

Look who hasn't changed.
X = 4.00
Y = -1.03

I had to do this again and results were:
Economic Left/Right: -3.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.79
Maybe I'm not so high on the chart of liberal leftism, but I think it's good that I don't think so strictly about some things. It's gives an opportunity to look things easier from another point of view than only mine.
