Jos is trying to get hold of the server providers support. Apparently they have a queue on their phone support, and Jos has to work, but hopefully he manages to get contact with them soon.

Apparently, the ISP shut Cantr down because of a denial of service attack (DOS). They may have also blacklisted the site. We can't contact them until Monday at the earliest, and given the amount of explaining that needs to be done on both sides, I wouldn't get your hopes up for a quick resolution. We don't have any more information at this time.

All, Cantr is obviously back, but the game has been locked until we figure out what happened, exactly, and if we want to roll back time. We'll keep you informed.

We've been informed that it was a distributed denial of service attack. Obviously, it's pointless to bring the game back up if it's just going to get bombed again, so EchoMan has taken it down for now. Given the amount of starvation and ship movement that's happened in the downtime (the game continued to run), we'll most likely roll back to as close as we can, but we may lose some events depending on when the backup happened. If we need to take more security precautions to protect Cantr against this kind of attack, we'll remain down to take those precautions. There is no estimate on when we'll be back up.

The game will be reset to 3088-0:17.12.

Edit: This is about 2-3 ingame hours after the server became unavailable, so no events will be lost. We'll probably have to fix the daily reports just as the last time, we will see. /EchoMan

We have been doing some work on the server, and everything has been going fine. We hope to be able to open up the game some time around this time tomorrow if everything keep going as planned.

The game is currently offline. This is due to there not being enough funds on Jos' PayPal account (the one directly associated with the Donate-buttons on the site ;) ) to pay the Internet Service Provider (ISP).

I've texted Jos and hopefully we will be able to resolve the issue and pay from our own pockets for another month of Cantr. :)

I'll post any updates here as soon as I get them.

We are sorting it out, but it takes a little time.

I have deposited the missing amount to the account used for paying for the ISP's services. I have also tried to reprocess the failed bill. They have payments batches running once per day, but I have no idea at what time this is run.

When our payment has been completed (i'll be monitoring the billing info) I probably will have to call their support to have them reactivate our server again.

Currently we have $85 in monthly donations, and a $99 monthly cost for the server alone. Then some for the forum server. And domain names. And then I want a pizza and coke for working on my vacation. ;)

I just got off the phone with the ISP, and the server should be unlocked in 20 mins to 1 hour.

There was a small glitch with uploading images in notes. It has now been fixed.

There seems to be some problem with the game and wiki server at the moment. We are investigating.

I have tried to get hold of the ISP's support department, without luck so far. I will post any news here as soon as I get them.

We might have problems getting ahold of support due to hurricane-related complications. Mass transit is still not operating in many parts of the area, and lots of people are dealing with flooding. Let's just hope the issue itself is not hurricane-related.
