On a second scan of the page, it seems I wasn't hit! She must have realized that I had a shield or something..

Abstain.

1% of a population is normally bent towards carnage. That would be at least 24 characters right now. The odds that you will see one of these 24 characters being activtly mruderous with your 15 views into the game is fairly high.

Welcome. It is not welcome unless it's me doing it. :P

People who just attack masses of people are boring. There's no targetted attacks, no planning, no espionage, nothing. Just, bambambambam everyone's pissed, char gets executed by survivors (hopefully) or the entire place gets cleaned out. I've seen too much of that, and quite frankly, it bores me.

Agreed, turn based fighting, like a duel type thing would help change that as it would require more thought than the hit and run tactics currently, as you wouldn't be able to hit and run, and would stop 1 person clearing out a town in a couple days.

Violence in RL is instant and final and should remain so in Cantr. Although I will restate that I would like to see some sort of random system in place. I would also have to agree with David that about 1% of the chars are activily planning murder or other divious schemes, but with probly another 3% that are prepared to dish something out at any given time depending on the circumstances, so of course you are going to witness wholesale slaugthers here and there...but don't belittle the amount of thought that goes into them

violence is instant and final, but tends to consist of exchanges in a frenzied manner, and the best we can do in Cantr is do it turn based, but it would mean that there would be a uniformity across Cantr that most things are turn based and progress on the hour, whereas in RL there would be constant progress

It's good that uit is turn based otherwise people who are active a lot longer than others can wipe out other non-active people in a short amount of time. It wouldn't affrect my characters since I'm online quite a lot.

I suppose in the same vein it would give less active players a fighting chance, as their characters fight back automatically (or not if they choose, an option should be included to not retaliate)

I voted 'no' in the sense that I was not at all surprised that the person who started being violent did so. One slightly off-kilter person...

What did surprise me is that she came back when asked.

She didn't come back because she was asked, she stepped on to the road to get someone she missed. She has an iron shield so there was no reason to run or fear retribution. Not yet anyway.....

It wouldn't solve this issue but remember if you want to speed up violence then:

If you hit a person you can not hit them for a day UNLESS (the new part) they hit you back then you can hit them again instantly. If you do they can hit you again instanly and so on.

Characters not active during the time of the battle are protected same as today. Being not logged in, they do not strike back and can only get hit once.

And to the people who said in this forum that iron shouldn't be controlled....this would be what uncontrolled looks like. :P

The reason why I come down on player "resources should remain free to all" is that it is just not the history of most cultures. Most groups try to control much more than they will ever need. So even with infinite amount of a resourse, someone will declare it is all thiers. Whether they can enforce it or not is a different issue. Characters on the other hand should have no preset opnion on this either way. Each character has it's own opnions seperate from it's player.

Order is simple. Freedom is much more difficult. Although it seems to be the other way around, it is not. I still prefer freedom IRL but that is how we were raised weren't we?

I would like to see a "auto chracter drag" feature or a "drag from trail" feature. So that people jumping on and off trails are less safe from an angry mob.
