If someone else wrote it and you don't own the copyright to it..? Don't use it... It's basically theft, especially given that it is likely going to exist in Cantr in some form and written down forever. They're not like a cover version at an amateur band gig, where copyright is a nebulous thing and it is impossible to say which songs the band played took the door money and, nobody cares basically.

Parodies are considered original material when it comes to copyright. Assuming of course, you haven't just gone and stolen someone else's parody.

I think the best way to play music in Cantr as a non-musician player is to focus on emotional part of the performance. After all, in this kind of game we won't be able to experience technical side of music, yet we can experience the emotional one. We cen describe sound as soft, high, low, quiet, delicate, dramatic, etc. We can describe emotion that hides in each note or in voice of the singer. There are many ways to do it, we just need to use our imagination ;)
