I like it when players take their time to make things interesting. Just saying.

I don't think he's asking for specific types of wood to be implemented. Rather, he is upset that his friend got grief from someone for describing something not explicitly stated to exist.

Ask to take it back and get it repaired?
Sometimes they're like eggs. You just gotta feed it, keep it warm, and hope it hatches into something brilliant.
Even if that's running in and out of buildings and taking the unlocked vehicle.
I always look within the rules and wiki at what things have not been done (at least in my six+ yrs).
I have done a chef... I had an idea of doing a food truck idea out of a bus or van. Just a "roach coach" type thing that has specialty foods and stuff for trade. Not a load of potatoes, but some of the more advanced foods... never did it. Maybe its an idea for someone else.
A lot of the items are not available to do perfect recipes, but it is roleplaying after all. I have a char who likes to make picnic baskets (been a while though) and asks people out for 'dates' or 'picnics'. Great for a vacation to the beach or romantic interlude in the forest.
Certain items allow a lot of creativity. If a game exists in your head and imagination, put it to work.
I am certainly not a good example, but I guess I am outing a few of my own.
The Ice Sisters was a great concert early on. I guess they lost the player who made them creative.
It was fun while it lasted...still there is everything for concert bands.
Or the lone guitarist who falls upon existential lyrics.
I have seen a few very creative chars and some of us are just not reacting to them.
Support imagination!
If you do it, I will stop annoying you by ending my messages with:
Be well.
