For some reason I had formed the opinion that, like say specs, they had only RP value, not any functionality... Thanks for putting me straight.

Brick building!

and the ability to make bricks for such a building...

It's been there a while, it replaces the fact that you can't make a fire pit on a boat anymore, but it requires a trowel, which was nearly the undoing of one of my characters who set out with all the stone required along with the dung for drying and meat for cooking.

I don't understand. Where and how do you build a new sign then?

Just try and dynamically rename it.....

I'm not sure the facility to actually make the new sign is there yet..

The RD has not finished deciding on the specifics (such as the required tools). What you have seen is the code changes that will allow this change to occur. Please be patient.

I found a repair icon inside my dirt bike and when I clicked it I got this;

Project: actively repairing the current location

My other charries inside can also see the icon in buildings, do we have building deteriation now?

He is in his twenties and is actively repairing the current location.

No skill, no % done, and you can't work on anything else while you're repairing the location. Everyone that doesn't live in the town square is now fully employed keeping thier building from falling down around them, or boat from sinking out from under them.

Gotta love it.
Reality was never my strong point.

If previous staff posts are to be believed, there's no building "rot" per se - nothing time-based. So you don't need to worry about keeping your building from collapsing if it's not being attacked (which doesn't seem to have been implemented yet).

Exactly, no building rot for now ... the repair functionality is in anticipation of building destruction through peaceful as well as violent means.
